2010 Preservation Awards
Thursday, June 10, 2010 6PM Center Court, Tower Square, 1500 Main Street
Join the Springfield Preservation Trust in honoring the people and organizations that are preserving historic places in Springfield.
The Springfield Preservation Trust Preservation Awards honor the people and organizations that are helping to restore historic structures in Springfield. Every year the Trust showcases exemplary properties that represent the best preservation in Springfield over the previous year. Awardees are presented with a plaque that includes images of their restored property and what they are winning the award for. Preservation awards are commonly given to properties that have restored the historic look of a building by removing inappropriate siding, repairing or replicating original details or generally bringing back a building that was in disrepair.

Join us for light refreshments, elections, review of the past year, update on 77 Maple Street, and a tour by Kathleen Pellegrino of two Temple Street renovation projects.
2010 Winter Fundraiser
Held at a fabulous mansion on Longhill Street overlooking the Connecticut River, the 2010 Winter Fundraiser was one of the most successful events we have held in recent years. Over 130 guests attended and enjoyed a nice evening in a spectacular location. The funds raised from the event will go towards the restoration of our restoration of 77 Maple Street.
2009 Winter Fundraiser
This year's winter fund raiser was held at the home of Jim and Merry Boone in the McKnight Historic District. Jim and Merry have lived in McKnight for 32 years and have lovingly restored their 1887 Queen Anne Victorian to its original beauty. The event was well attended and Jim and Merry graciously opened their entire home for guests to tour.
2008 Annual Preservation Awards held at 183 Dartmouth Terrace
The Springfield Preservation Trust Preservation Awards honor the people and organizations that are helping to restore historic structures in Springfield. This year the event was held at one of the properties receiving an award, 183 Dartmouth Terrace (pictures at right). This grand 1894 Colonial Revival house had been neglected over the years, but has been thoroughly renovated after being purchased by award recipients Richard and Jaime Gray.

2008 Annual Meeting held at Kimball Towers, 140 Chestnut Street
Once one of Springfield's grandest hotels, the Kimball continues to have some of the grandest spaces in the city. The building continues to be a historic landmark through its modern life as residential condominiums.

2008 Winter Fundraiser held at the Home of Ed Sims & Paul Kenney
The 1894 Shingle Style house was built for Lillian, the only daughter of William McKnight. She married G. Wood Taylor, a young Boston architect who may have designed this house. Taylor worked closely with his father-in-law on the development of the Forest Park Heights and Ridgewood areas.
Of special interest to many will be the vast collection of Santa figures as well as the lavishly decorated Christmas trees which adorn several rooms in the home.
