2008 Annual Preservation Awards

Join the Springfield Preservation Trust for the 2008 Preservation Awards. Help honor the people and organizations that  are helping to restore historic structures in Springfield by attending the awards ceremony on Saturday, May 3rd at 5:00 pm.

This year the event is being held at one of the properties receiving an award, 183 Dartmouth Terrace (pictures at right). This grand 1894 Colonial Revival house had been neglected over the years, but has been thoroughly renovated after being purchased by Richard and Jaime Gray.

Light refreshments will be served. Please RSVP by emailing info@springfieldpreservationtrust.org or by calling 747-0656 by Monday April 28th.

2008 Annual Meeting

Held at Kimball Towers, 140 Chestnut Street

Once one of Springfield's grandest hotels, the Kimball continues to have some of the grandest spaces in the city. The building continues to be a historic landmark through its modern life as residential condominiums.

2008 Winter Party

Held at the Home of Ed Sims & Paul Kenney

The 1894 Shingle Style house was built for Lillian, the only daughter of William McKnight. She married G. Wood Taylor, a young Boston architect who may have designed this house. Taylor worked closely with his father-in-law on the development of the Forest Park Heights and Ridgewood areas.

Of special interest to many will be the vast collection of Santa figures as well as the lavishly decorated Christmas trees which adorn several rooms in the home.
